Riding the rapids

There is a desire to be seen, seen entirely; to be engulfed, to be known, to abandon one's self to another and to one's passion in the arms of another. A direct relationship to this potential is necessary, for it will not be denied. We must bear the slings and arrows of whatever fate brings us in this regard, for it is the only way to be whole. The only way out is through, through to the other side of the experience. The only thing needed is courage enough to be vulnerable.
Our feelings may thrash about like Class VI whitewater rapids on the New River, but they are not who we are ultimately. We will still remain ourselves. We will come up for air. We will be deposited back on the shore eventually. We may wonder what we've gone through, or what went through us.
